Travelling with children, and like the idea of a hotel that also has an adults-only area? Riu Palace Peninsula, in Cancun's Hotel Zone, has both. Kids have the RIU Land club and a new children's pool, and the Elite Club area is for adults only. RIU says the hotel was recently renovated, with more modern rooms, an ice cream parlor and two new themed restaurants. There are eight restaurants, seven bars and four pools in all.

Before you book

This is a family hotel with an adults-only Elite Club area, not an adults-only resort. If you want a stay with no children at all, tell me and I'll point you to one.
