Honeymoons & Celebrations
The trip that marks something.
Honeymoons, anniversaries, milestone birthdays, and the destination wedding you're not sure you can face organising.
Honeymoons
The most common honeymoon mistake is booking the trip you'd want at forty when you're thirty, or the reverse. The second most common is scheduling it to start twelve hours after the wedding, which is how people spend the first two days asleep.
What I'd actually suggest:
- Leave a day or two between the wedding and the flight. You will be more tired than you expect.
- Split it — a few days somewhere restful, then somewhere with more to do. Two weeks lying still is longer than it sounds.
- Say it's your honeymoon everywhere. Hotels, airlines, restaurants. It's the one time being obvious about it pays.
- Use a honeymoon registry. Guests fund experiences rather than dishware. I'll set it up.
- Take the insurance. More moving parts, more money, less flexibility than an ordinary trip.
A minimoon now and the real trip six months later is often the better plan, and nobody minds.
Destination weddings
Organising a wedding abroad means becoming a travel agent for forty people while also getting married. That's the part I take off you.
Group room blocks
Negotiated rates, held inventory, and a deadline structure that doesn't leave you personally liable for unsold rooms.
Individual booking links
Every guest books their own room and their own flights through a link. You are not collecting deposits by text message.
Guest questions go to me
All of them. Transfers, passports, dietary requirements, whether Aunt Carol can get a ground-floor room. You should be choosing flowers.
Wedding-friendly properties
Sandals and Beaches, Palace Resorts, Excellence, Karisma, Atlantis, Hotel Xcaret and the AIC Hotel Group properties all run genuine wedding programmes — with real coordinators, not a form.
Anniversaries and milestones
Fortieth birthdays, fiftieth anniversaries, a family reunion with four generations in it. These have the same logistical shape as a destination wedding and roughly none of the pressure, and they're some of the most enjoyable trips to build.
For the trips that mark something, it's worth knowing: resorts pay my commission, not you, and I often have access to promotions and extras that aren't shown publicly. In many cases that means the very same honeymoon or celebration, booked for less than you'd pay on your own. See how I'm paid
