Riu Guanacaste

The short version

On Playa Matapalo in Sardinal, Riu Guanacaste is a beachfront family resort with plenty going on: a Splash Water World water park, the RIU Land kids' program, seven bars, a buffet and themed restaurants, a swim-up pool bar, tennis, a gym and a nightclub. It was RIU's first hotel in Costa Rica, opened in 2009, and a complete refurbishment was planned for 2025. Check the spa before you book, as RIU's page lists the Renova Spa as temporarily closed for remodeling.
